Hunts Post Business of the Year 2013

Forward Composites Wins Hunts Post Business of the Year 2013

Hunts Post group award

A jubilant team from Forward Composites Ltd proudly displaying an array of awards, including the highly prestigious 'Business of the Year Award" that was won at this year's Hunts Business Award ceremony. Hosted by BBC news presenter Stewart White, the Hunts Business Awards proved to be very fruitful for Forward Composites. Finance Manager Dawn Macdonald was runner-up in the 'Employee of the Year" award and we narrowly missed winning the 'New Business" Award. However, we are particularly proud that Managing Director, Paul Jackson was awarded 'Business Person of the Year, which we felt was greatly deserved after all of the effort and personal commitment that Paul has made to launch the company.

The evening was a fairly relaxed affair. However, as the ceremony drew towards its climax, the tension in the room began to grow until the crowning glory was finally announced that Forward Composites had won the overall title and top prize of 'Business of the Year'.

Everyone throughout the business should be proud of this achievement as it recognises all of the hard work, dedication and attention to detail that was contributed by the whole team which ultimately led to this award.

Hywel Barrett, journalist for the Hunts Post wrote:

Forward Composites and The Citrus Room won three of the 13 awards on offer, including the top two - Business of the Year and the Judges Award. Forward, which took over from Lola Composites just eight months ago, has become one of the district's shining lights, winning the 2013 Business of the Year, sponsored by Marshalls PLC.

Forward's Managing Director Paul Jackson, who also scooped Business Person of the Year, told the Hunts Post: "I'm just pleased for the team that after 10 months in administration, then six months building the team and gaining the customers" confidences back. It has been quite a journey. We are all proud of what has been achieved, but must now push hard and build on this success."

The judges described Forward as "A true phoenix from the ashes." They said "With the strength and skill sets derived from its predecessor, Lola Composites, Paul Jackson and his team have driven this new venture across the start line with the greatest of gusto. We believe that Forward Composites has achieved particular acclaim this year against its co-nominees due to its higher-than-forecasted financial results but also the overall openness towards and motivation of staff, new work won from customers and recruitment of high calibre key personnel. The fact that its CEO sat in an office marked with an auction lot number only some nine months ago compared with a multi-million pound turnover today is testament that Forward Composites is set for very great things and is a worthy winner of Business of the Year."
