Fire Sweeps Through Forward Composites
On 30 January 2014 at 2.40 am Paul Jackson (MD) received a phone call informing him that the building was on fire. Dashing over with keys and plans he was met with the sight of some 50 fire fighters and smoke billowing from one of the manufacturing units. The fire fighters were able to contain the fire but the result was that over half of the available production area was effectively unusable along with the loss of some key equipment including our 5-axis milling machine.
Determined to keep the business going, Paul and the Manufacturing Manager re-directed staff to other areas of the site and production continued. Restoration work progressed at a remarkable pace and business quickly returned to normal. A potentially critical situation was turned into an opportunity to completely refurbish the the site into a state-of-the-art production facility with clean rooms, large 5-axis machine and tooling and trimming shops.
